Gorgeous looks, an exceptional gearbox and good value mark this as the best cruiser-tourer that Jaguar has created. The sober, executive-style interior doesn't quite match the sexy exterior, and the car is really a 2+2, rather than the claimed four-seater. It's also not truly a sports car because it offers engineering sophistication rather than raw, seat-of-the-pants thrills,. It's available as a hard-top and a convertible.

Almost everything is on board as standard, as befits cars costing a shade either side of £60,000: climate control, cruise control, leather upholstery, driver information centre, premium audio system and parking sensors, for instance. The convertible's roof operates hydraulically at the touch of a button. The space-saver spare wheel eats into the already-tiny boot, even on the hardtop, so some owners might consider opting for run-flat tyres instead.
