Join the Elite with Trap Locator Added on 14th December 2007

The Elite has a smart 40mm screen, which is large enough for a clear view, but not too distracting. And its LED display is sharp, even in bright sunlight.
As with many similar products, set-up is complex, but the infra-red remote control is easy to use. You can opt for camera alerts or full safety mode; the latter adds accident hotspot warnings.
Usefully, the Elite can be set to work in a range of vehicles (car and trailer, truck, van etc), so it shows the different speed limits applying to each on certain roads. All warnings are spoken, along with the speed limit, and the display shows the prevailing limit, with a count down to the camera. Voice overspeed warnings are also given.
On our test route, it found every trap. Alerts were deactivated instantly if they were no longer relevant, but a sharp turn before one camera did throw the Talex off track. Still, the Elite is great value (a year’s subscription is thrown in), and its ability to switch for different types of vehicle is a handy addition.
