Kia Sorento 4x4
Review
Kia has given its big 4x4, the Sorento, a mid-life tweak and polish. Styling and trim changes are subtle, but driving dynamics are much improved and the engines now meet Euro IV emissions standards. A new petrol engine will also join the range in 2007. Kia admits that the revisions are calculated to make the Sorento appeal more to the fleet sector, now a prime target for UK's fastest-growing car brand. Crucially, diesel Sorento prices stay the same despite the styling revisions, better performance and better specification. The car remains a serious off-roader, with a choice of full-time or selectable four-wheel drive, with a low-ratio transfer box.

Equipment
Kia has been creeping up the price lists now that its products have improved and demand is greater. The company has not abandoned its ethos of value for money, however, so entry XE trim comes with alloy wheels, dual-zone aircon, four electric windows, radio-CD player and manual height adjustment on the driver's seat. Upgrading to XS trim adds cruise control, climate control, an electric sunroof, grey-leather upholstery and electric adjustment on the driver's seat. Top XT trim finishes off with black-leather upholstery, satellite navigation, a CD multichanger and some cosmetic extras. The 3.3 V6 petrol model will be available only in XT trim.
