Lexus IS Saloon Review
The IS is Lexus's biggest seller in Europe, a four-door premium sports saloon that competes in a market segment dominated by European manufacturers. The new generation model, launched late 2004, retains the same rear-wheel drive configuration and introduces a new petrol V6 and a four-cylinder turbodiesel, a first for Lexus. The design is more distinctive and original; quality and specification are unmatched; and value for money is strong.

The IS is offered in entry level IS250/220d grade, plus SE, SE-L and Sport. Specification is one of Lexus's traditional strong points: all models feature eight airbags, keyless entry and start up, climate control, alloy wheels, LED interior lighting and front and rear armrests. SE models have larger wheels, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable heated and ventilated front seats. The SE-L specification includes rain-sensing wipers, high-intensity headlights, rear parking sensors and electric front seat and steering wheel adjustment with memory settings. Sport versions have lowered suspension, sports-style pedals and suede-effect upholstery. Satellite navigation is available only as part of a formidable package that includes 14-speaker hi-fi with surround-sound, Bluetooth connectivity, rear park assist monitor and voice control of navigation, audio and ventilation functions.
