Mercedes E Class Saloon
Review
Launched in August 2002, the latest generation E-Class enabled Mercedes-Benz to strike at the reputation of the BMW 5 Series. Staunchly rear-wheel-drive, the E-Class was introduced at precisely the right time. It was intentionally larger than the previous generation and incorporated technological features that were yet to appear on the S-Class. Buyers were drawn immediately into the space, dynamics and general demeanour of the E-Class and the range has continued to prosper following the negative response to the styling of the latest generation 5 Series.
