Volkswagen Golf Hatchback
Review
The fifth generation Golf is the latest incarnation of what has become the definitive European compact hatchback. Since the first Golf was launched in 1974, production has outstripped even the legendary Beetle. At the same time the car has become ever larger and more sophisticated.Although the styling of the new Golf is nothing radical, the car does make significant advances in handling and build quality. The fit and finish inside and out are superb; the steering and suspension are immaculately engineered; and the engine line-up provides an excellent balance of performance, economy and clean emissions in both petrol and diesel forms.
