An estate car for your country estate
What is it?
A TOUGHENED up 4x4 A4 Avant aimed at those who like to wander down the occasional green lane. Audi calls it the allroad. Like its bigger brother, the A6 allroad, this model gets extra plastic cladding, raised suspension (up by 37mm) and an off-road ESP system to help maintain traction. Available in 2.0-litre turbo petrol and diesel trim, or flagship 237bhp 3.0-litre V6 diesel spec, as tested here.
What's hot?
- Tougher body looks good, raised ride gives a slightly better view...
- ...but without the negative connotations of a full-blown SUV
