BMW X6: the 4x4 that thinks it’s a coupe
What is it?
Just when you needed another acronym, along comes the X6. Which BMW calls a SAC. That’s a Sports Activity Coupe. The BMW X6 extends the trend of rakish-looking but four-door ‘coupes’ into the area of top-end 4x4s. It is not an easy trick to pull off. And many have slammed the BMW X6 as a huge waste of space. There are only four seats, but in size and engineering terms it’s a re-bodied BMW X5, complete with the same class-beating sub-225g/km CO2 diesels. Unique to the X6 is ‘dynamic performance control’: a trick rear diff that boosts the sporty feeling when tanking on.
