First official pictures of the new Mazda Shinar concept car

The new Mazda Shinar concept car has finally been designed and it has to be said that it’s a groundbreaking design that sets it apart from earlier models.

A Mazda representative described it as a “pure design concept model of a four-door, four-seater sports coupe which perfectly expresses the ‘kodo – soul of motion’ design.

This new style and descriptive language has been adopted by Mazda to take the brand forward and create a new identity. As a result, the new Mazda is not dissimilar to a Jaguar, the Merc CLS or the Audi A7 Sportback.

The chief designer at Mazda, Yasushi Nakamuta, was inspired by examples of powerful forces from nature, normal human life and dynamic motion. He used these images and design ideas to create the new model.

Mr Nakamuta said, “We began by developing the design around the image of a predator, as it strikes at its prey or the stabbing movement in kendo, Japanese fencing, to express the instant where accumulated force is released.

It is thought that this new way of thinking will revolutionise all Mazda vehicles within the next three years and create a new public identity for the company.

Unfortunately, the Shinar will not be showcased at the 2010 Paris motor show so car enthusiasts will have to wait until the 2011 Geneva debut in order to see a fully working model.

This will just be in time for its release date, which is expected to be sometime in 2011.
