The second instalment of the Olympic blog posts which showcase the most popular manufacturers in each country,  participating in the Olympics. You may even be surprised at some of the most popular cars sold in each country. I know we certainly were.

Azerbaijan  – The Mercedes C Class

Home to the largest town built on stilts the Mercedes C class is the most popular vehicle in the country. Purchasing a Mercedes in Azerbaijan seems to be  second nature as in 2nd and 3rd place are also the Mercedes models. The E class followed by the Mercedes V class. The V class is also immensely popular, although you don’t see too many of them here in Britian.

Bangladesh – Toyota Premio.

A country full of live and diversity however the most popular car purchased in the Toyota Premio. The model may spark no enthusiasm amongst us however when you delve a little closer it’s luxurious and spacious interior help you to understand why they are so popular. In second and third places in order are the Toyota Allion and also the Toyota Corolla Axio. Toyota is big news in Bangladesh with hundreds being sold and bought each week.

Barbados – Toyota Noah

Barbados is the Olympic country which loves big vehicles. The Olympic competitor Barbados is most fond of the Toyota Noah which is a large people carrier with some sleek finishing. Missing gold my a few hundred is the Toyota Townace Van. Getting Bronze is the Toyota Hiace Van which is even bigger than the Townace Van. Think how many beach party goers you could fit into it!

Burundi – Toyota Corolla

Although there aren’t any official statistics over 50% of the cars in Burundi are in fact the Toyota Corolla . This leads us to believe that this is the most popular make in the country. The Toyota Hilux is also popular here, the figures are unknown however

Belgium- Toyota Grand Hiace

Another country which is fold of the Toyota this time picking up the victory cup is the Grand Hiace. The Hiace was first released in 1967 and has had been updated 5 times as the 5th generation was released in 2004 and continues to be a best seller. The Toyota really does seem to be beating off most of the competition so far!

Belize- Nissan Patrol GR

Home to the large 4×4’s. The Nissan Patrol has been widely sold in Belize and range in price from $30,000 to under $10,000. Another popular model is the Toyots Prado. Some older models look slightly like the Mercedes G wagon. Surprisingly in third place is the Nissan Cube. Many people have purchased one due to its unique look and is a small people carrier which offers space and some cool points to boot.

Benin- The Toyota Hilux

The Hilux back again followed by the Prado. Other great models which are popular in the area are the Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Accent which are all bought and resold often in Benin. Benin is also home to to a town which is built entirely on stilts!!

Bermuda- Toyota Hilux

Don’t jump to conclusions and think about the triangle Bermuda is also fond of purchasing Toyotas and BMW 3 series. It seems that many countries are totally fascinated with Toyota so they must be doing something right all over the world it seems. BMW is in at second place no matter which generation, this car is a great choice no matter which country you’re from!

Bhutan- Toyota Landcruiser

One of the largest cars to mentioned in the list so far is the Toyota Land Cruiser and is Bhutan’s most purchased vehicle. A large and thirsty 4×4 which will take on even the steepest terrain.

The overall analysis of the most popular cars in these ten countries is that Toyota is battling off the competition by releasing cars which are suited not only to different climates but different driving styles and terrains. Toyota is going for Gold at the moment but it could all change in the next post.
