Review of the Hyundai Veloster
Review of the Hyundai Veloster.
A review concerning the style, handling and efficiency of the Hyundai Veloster for potential buyers and leasers.
In terms of design the Hyundai Veloster has a quirky edge over most other cars in its category with its interesting design.
By incorporating two doors on the passenger side and one on the drivers side the car is definitely interesting to the eye and somewhat more practical than your average coupe.
In terms of engine capability the Veloster has a 138 bhp 1.6 litre engine and comes in either a manual or automatic mode. The manual reaches 0-62 mph in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 125 mph whilst the automatic can go from 0-62 in 10.3 seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph.
Appearance-wise the Veloster ticks all of the boxes but unfortunately in terms of driving and handling the car could perform better and doesn’t quite match up to rivals such as the VW Scirocco. However if you are looking for a safe option the Veloster is ideal as it received the full five star Euro NCAP rating and boasts six airbags, ISOFIX child seat capability, ABS and front head restraints as additional safety features.
The Veloster comes in two trims with the standard model incorporating features such as a rear spoiler, LED brake lights, climate control and electric heated mirrors and the sport offering a panoramic sunroof and heated front seats amongst others.
Whilst the Veloster’s engine may not be as good as its rivals, the inside of the car provides optimal comfort and is great on longer journeys with bolstered front seats and easy to reach controls. Practicality is also present in the Veloster with the added side door and a boot space of 320 litres being ample for a coupe.
In terms of green credentials the Veloster fares quite well with the Blue Drive model emitting 137g/km of CO2 and an average return of 47.9 mpg. There is even a gear shift indicator to tell you when to change gear to aid you in minimising fuel consumption.
Whilst the car may not have the best handling in its category, the practical features and efficiency do benefit the car and it is definitely one of the most stylish and best designed coupes on the market.
